Free API

A read-only JSON API over the whole FastFuel database — 141 chains and brands, 43431 items. No keys, no rate limits, regenerated on every deploy. If you build something cool, we'd love a link back.

Endpoints

GET /api/chains.json

Every chain and brand: slug, name, vertical (restaurant or packaged), region, item count, URL.

GET /api/chain/<slug>.json

All items for one chain or brand, e.g. /api/chain/mcdonald-s.json — full macros, serving, source, vintage year, UPC where known, and a suspect flag for rows whose label math doesn't add up.

Rules of the road

Attribute. Link back to FastFuel and the item page.
Don't resell the raw feed as a competing database. Build on it, don't clone it.
Cache it. The data changes on deploy, not by the minute — fetch daily at most.
Vintages matter: items carry the year their numbers were published. 2018 rows are a guide, not gospel.
